What is Memorial Day?
Memorial Day, which falls on the last Monday of May, honors the men and women who died while serving in the American military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. In 2013, Memorial Day is observed on Monday 27th, and every year on Memorial Day, there is a national moment of remembrance at 3:00pm local time.
For 2013, we have added Carry The Load as an event beneficiary.

The 5K race is rebranded as the "Race for Nate". Please join us May 26, 2014 to celebrate Memorial Day with an awesome run and remember the spirit of an amazing young man.
Distances: Half Marathon (13.1 Miles), 5K (3.1 Miles), and 1 Mile Fun Run
Aid Stations: For the 5K, there will be one aid station with water only. For the half marathon, there are aid stations every 1.5 to 2 miles with water and sports drink available at each, except for water only at the first aid station about 1.5 miles in.
Prize Money (Must be USATF Member on race day to be eligible for prize money)
We will have $1,000 in prize money for our runners. We will award $250 for first place, $150 for second and $100 for third for our top three male and female finishers.
Although chip timing affords running events to produce quick fast timing results, it was never intended to be the benchmark for finish order. We feel that this is a foot race against other human beings and not against a computer system. The first one back across the finish line is the winner.
